AI girlfriend 18+ explained: how adult modes, age checks and pricing work
An AI girlfriend 18+ app is a companion chatbot that allows sexual and romantic content for adult users. How much it allows, on which plan, and what it does with your chats differs a lot between apps. This guide explains how the 18+ part works in practice and shows where five apps we have reviewed draw the line.
What the 18+ label means in practice
A general assistant changes the subject once a chat turns sexual. An AI girlfriend 18+ app keeps going, with a persona that stays the same character from one message to the next and some memory of what you told her. The label tells you that adult content exists somewhere in the product. It does not tell you that you get it for free, and on most apps you do not.
Age checks
Most of our reviews do not describe the age check at all. AIGFModel verifies age at the entry to its 18+ mode, Golove checks before it creates an account, and Linky gates at signup.
NSFW by plan
Explicit chat usually starts on the first paid plan. Explicit images can sit a tier higher: Candy keeps them for Plus at $22.99 and VIP at $49.99.
Privacy varies
Candy encrypts chats in transit and at rest and keeps them out of training unless you opt in. Lovescape names no retention period and offers no training opt-out.
How NSFW tiers work on 18+ AI girlfriend apps
Free tiers are mostly SFW. Lovescape's free plan is SFW chat only, OurDream's free plan has no NSFW, and Joi's filter told us to "keep things light" within ten messages. AIGFModel is the exception among our picks: it is spicy by default, with no separate unlock.
The first paid plan is where adult chat opens up, and the details matter. Candy's $12.99 Premium allows explicit text plus soft images (lingerie, swimwear). Joi unlocks NSFW chat on its $9.99 Premium, but replies there clip at about 115 characters, and we ran our explicit tests on the $17.77 Pro plan, where it refused nothing. Lovescape and OurDream unlock explicit chat and images on $9.99 Premium. Both escalate fast. Lovescape went explicit in about four messages once we asked and then followed our lead, and OurDream got there within six messages of a "we just met" opener without being asked.
Age checks and privacy
On age, the reviews that describe a check at all put it in front of the adult mode (AIGFModel) or in front of account creation (Golove). The others do not say how they verify, so assume the gate is only as strict as the signup form you see. Privacy needs more attention, because any adult chat app stores your messages on someone else's server. Candy's policy is the most reassuring of the five apps here. Joi stores chats and uses them in aggregate for model improvement under its terms. Lovescape's policy is the shortest we read (1,142 words), states no retention window, and support did not answer our question for 13 days. AIGFModel says it encrypts chats end to end and shares nothing with third parties; that is the company's claim and nobody has audited it. We did not assess OurDream's privacy policy.
How to choose
Decide first whether you want to install anything. AIGFModel and OurDream run in the browser only; Candy, Joi and Lovescape also have iOS and Android apps. Then decide what you would pay for. For memory, Candy held 18 of 20 fact callbacks over ten days. Joi has the deepest character builder. OurDream is the only app where we tested AI video ourselves, and Lovescape has the widest range of bodies and ethnicities in its builder.
AIGFModel: adult chat on the free tier
AIGFModel runs in any browser and gives you four modes from one login: 18+ Girlfriend, Love Simulator, Roleplay and Character Chat. Adult content is on by default, and in our testing the character stayed in role through adult turns. The free tier allows about 100 messages a day (about 200 in Roleplay). Premium pricing only appears inside the app, longer memory is a paid feature, and the privacy claims are unaudited. We scored it 4.5 in the AIGFModel review.
Joi AI: NSFW on Premium, full replies on Pro
Joi AI has the deepest builder we have used, with 12 personality sliders and six chat styles you can switch mid-conversation. NSFW chat opens on Premium at $9.99, but every reply there clips at about 115 characters. Pro at $17.77 removes the cap and is the plan our explicit test ran on. Images cost coins on top, so image-heavy users end up around $25 to $35 a month. The free tier gives 30 filtered messages a day. Details in the Joi AI review (4.3).
Lovescape: explicit chat and images on $9.99
Lovescape unlocks explicit chat, about 50 images a month and voice messages on its $9.99 Premium, with no coin economy. Its builder covers eight ethnicities and four body types including plus-size. The marketing promises a slow burn, but once we asked it went explicit in about four messages (message 38 to 42) with no relationship setup; it follows your lead if you want it slower. Its privacy policy is the thinnest of the five. Our Lovescape review scored it 4.1.
OurDream AI: chat, images and video clips on $9.99
OurDream AI is the only app where we tested AI video ourselves: clips of your companion three to five seconds long, about 20 a month on the $9.99 Premium. About one clip in five came back with an artifact. The visual builder runs to seven screens, and images held the character 91 percent of the time. Candy AI: explicit text on $12.99, explicit images a tier up
Candy AI is our top-rated app at 4.8. It held 18 of 20 fact callbacks over ten days, generated the same face 50 times in a row, and keeps chats out of training unless you opt in.
