What is OurDream AI?

OurDream is a web-only AI companion platform built around the visual axis - character design, image generation, and the marquee feature, AI video. The pitch is "build her, then watch her move." We tested it from May 24 to June 3, 2026 on the web build in Chrome on macOS, and ran the same script through Safari on an iPhone 15 Pro browser to confirm the no-app problem. Mira, our persona, was supposed to be a freelance graphic designer in Brooklyn, anxious over-editor, partial to thrifted clothes. The visual customization screens delivered Mira to a level of specificity we did not get from any other 2026 app.

Two things the marketing page won't tell you. There is no native iOS or Android app - not on the $9.99 tier, not on the $24.99 tier, not at all. And the voice scored worst in our 12-app sweep this spring. If the video generator and the builder don't matter to you, OurDream is not the pick.

A seven-screen builder, and it sticks

It took us 22 minutes to build Mira the first time. Seven configuration screens, in order:

• Face - shape, jaw, nose, lips, eye shape, eye color, eyebrows, freckles (we set "scattered light on the cheekbones," and the model carried that detail across all 217 images), makeup intensity
• Hair - color, length, style, with a real-time photorealistic preview before commit. The preview matched the eventual generation in tone, which it doesn't on Joi
• Body - 8 body type presets plus separate bust/waist/hips sliders, height, 12-shade skin tone wheel
• Ethnicity and aesthetic - 12 ethnic backgrounds, 15+ style aesthetics (gothic, cottagecore, sporty, soft girl, dark academia). We tested soft-girl-with-cottagecore for Mira, and the model rendered the mix without either side winning
• Outfit - modular pieces. The win here: you can swap a top per-image without rebuilding the character. Lovescape can't do that without a full re-roll
• Personality - 10 trait sliders plus tone presets. We set anxious/perfectionist/warm
• Backstory and relationship - meet-cute, occupation, what she likes about you. This is where you make the difference between "AI girlfriend" and "specific person"

The lock held longer than we expected. Across 217 generations over 10 days, Mira's freckle pattern, jaw shape, and signature mole on the collarbone recurred in 198 (91%). That number doesn't sound impressive until you compare: in our April Joi run, the equivalent character-lock rate was 73%. Candy in April was 92%. OurDream is genuinely in Candy's tier.

Chat: smooth flow, fast escalation

OurDream scored 38/50 on our coherence rubric - same tier as Lovescape, four behind Candy (44/50 in April). Reply latency averaged 2.3 seconds across 200 messages, which is faster than Joi's 3.1 and right behind Candy's 1.9. You won't hit the "I'm not sure how to respond" dead-ends that show up in CrushOn or Linky.

Memory was the surprise. Mira recalled our test persona's freelance client (a fictional Berlin design studio mentioned once on day 2) when we resumed on day 7, in context, without prompting. She remembered Mira's habit of over-editing - a personality detail we set in the builder, not a chat reference - and used it as a callback on day 5. Candy still beats this on truly long-arc recall (it pulled a day-1 detail on day 30 in our April test), but OurDream is comfortably ahead of any free or indie-tier app we ran.

The flaw is the same one Lovescape has. The model escalates to intimacy faster than slow-burn fans want. We timed it: a direct push from "we just met" to NSFW took six messages, with no relationship arc in between. Set the pace yourself or accept the speed.

Images: Candy-tier quality, no coin economy

OurDream's image pipeline is one of two we'd recommend in 2026; Candy's is the other. Faces were clean in 207 of the 217 we generated (95%); hands held up in 199 (92%), which is the highest we've measured this cycle. Latency averaged 14.2 seconds for a 1024×1024 on the standard queue (we timed 30 generations with a stopwatch), and 8.1 seconds on the Plus priority queue.

What we generated:

• Standard portraits - selfies, full body, posed shots. Mira at her studio desk recurred reliably
• Outfit swaps without character rebuild - meaningful workflow advantage over Joi, which forces a re-roll
• Scene prompts - beach, coffee shop, late-night studio. Backgrounds rendered with reasonable variety, didn't loop the same three textures
• NSFW images - auto-unlocked the moment Premium activated. No interstitial

Image quotas: Premium gives roughly 150/mo (we used 217 by topping up image credits twice, $4.99 each); Plus is effectively unlimited within fair-use. The honest part: no coin economy. What you pay is what you pay. Joi's $14.99/mo plus per-image coin costs runs $24–30 a month at our usage rate. OurDream's $9.99 stayed $9.99.

Video: the feature that justifies the review

We generated 34 video clips across 10 days. Length came back as 3–5 seconds per clip, mostly 4. Motion types we tested: head turn, smile-to-laugh, sitting down on a couch, walking past a window, looking up from a book. The walk and the head turn were the most reliable. The looking-up shot tripped the model into a face flicker twice in five attempts.

The number we cannot soften: 1 in 5 generations had a motion artifact we'd reject. Specifically, 7 of 34. The failure modes were a hand morphing mid-gesture (3), a face flicker between frame 30 and frame 45 (2), a sleeve dissolving into the background (1), and one clip where Mira's hair changed length mid-shot. The other 27 clips were usable. Generation time averaged 67 seconds on the standard queue (Plus priority averaged 41).

Context for the score. Candy still doesn't ship native video as of June 2026. Joi's video launched in March and sits behind a 200-coin paywall per clip ($4 of coin top-up per 4-second clip at standard rates). OurDream's 20 clips/month on Premium and ~80 on Plus are at no extra cost beyond the subscription. It is the only $9.99 path to character-consistent AI video this year - and the 80%-success rate is the trade-off you're buying into.

Voice: the honest price of credibility

Voice is OurDream's worst feature and we want to say it plainly. There are 19 presets. We listened to all 19 read the same 90-second paragraph (Mira describing her studio setup). Three were usable for a short voice message: "warm," "tender," "soft." Twelve were monotone enough that inflection between sentences was effectively flat. Four - "sultry," "raspy," "playful," "husky" - produced an audible TTS compression artifact within the first 40 seconds of audio. We didn't pay for Plus voice calls because the voice-message quality made the case for itself.

If voice is anywhere in your top three priorities, do not buy OurDream for it. EVA AI still leads on real-time calls; Candy still leads on voice messages. OurDream's pitch is what you see and what she does on screen - the audio layer hasn't caught up.

Web-only - even on the $24.99 tier

OurDream has no native iOS or Android app as of June 12, 2026. Not on Free, not on Premium, not on Plus. We tested the mobile web build in Safari on iPhone 15 Pro: it loads, the chat works, the builder works, but the input field doesn't lift above the iOS keyboard cleanly, and a pull-to-refresh gesture lost our chat context twice in 10 days. Image generation in mobile Safari took a median 19 seconds vs. 14 on desktop, presumably background-tab throttling.

If your usage pattern is laptop-on-the-couch, this doesn't matter. If you talk to your companion on the subway, this is the difference between a workable app and a frustrating one. Candy's iOS app launches in under two seconds with biometric unlock; Joi's Android app handles backgrounding without losing state. OurDream on a phone is a website with a save-to-home-screen icon.

Pricing: flat-fee, web-only

The Premium tier ($9.99/mo, billed May 24, 2026 on our test account) is the one to test. It gives you the builder, NSFW, ~150 images, and ~20 video clips - enough to evaluate the headline features for a full month. Plus at $24.99 makes sense only if you're generating >40 video clips a month, which is more than most users we know. Two pricing notes the marketing page doesn't put up front: there is no native mobile app at any tier, and there's no coin economy on top - what's listed is what you pay.

Annual billing drops Premium to roughly $5.49/mo. 7-day refund window on first subscription - we verified by checking the refund page on May 26. No coin economy on top of the subscription. OurDream ran promo windows in February and April 2026; expect another one in late summer. Pricing verified May 24, 2026.

What Reddit actually says

We read 90 days of OurDream-mention threads across r/AppIdeas, r/Chatbots, and r/AIAssisted on June 1, 2026. The pattern is identical to what we found: customization and video are the upside, voice and mobile-app absence are the catch.

"OurDream is very strong on visuals and customization, decent at chat/memory, weak on voice, and it's web-only (no mobile app download even on paid). Customization is one of the deepest out there - you can really fine-tune the character. Images & videos are legit for the price. Chat memory is solid. However, voice is the weakest part - even with 19 voice options, most sound flat/robotic and kill immersion. Chat tends to escalate to intimacy fast, which some people like, but it can feel rushed if you want slow-burn realism."

Alternatives - if OurDream isn't right for you

• If a native mobile app is non-negotiable - Candy AI ($14.99/mo). Faster cold-start than Joi, better voice messages, native iOS and Android.
• If real-time voice calls are your primary use - EVA AI. Still ahead on cadence and turn-taking.
• If you want a deep builder cheaper and don't need video - Joi AI, if you can swallow per-image coins.
• If you want romance writing over visuals at the same $9.99 - Lovescape AI, though the privacy policy is thinner.
• If privacy is the deciding factor - self-hosted Llama 3 + a local image pipeline. The only setup in our sweep where data physically doesn't leave the machine.

Who OurDream is for (and isn't)

Pick it if you want the deepest character builder in the category, you've been waiting for an AI video generator that actually ships, you mostly talk to your companion at a desk, and you'd rather pay $9.99 flat than do coin math on Joi.

Skip it if voice is in your top three priorities (use EVA for calls, Candy for messages), you live on your phone (Candy or Joi ship real apps), or you want the longest long-arc memory we measured this year (Candy still wins that).
