Golove AI review 2026

Golove AI is an 18+ companion app that puts voice replies and image generation in the $9.99 plan. Candy gets you there at $12.99 and Joi at $17.77 on its Pro tier. We ran it for 30 days next to those two. The persona builder changes how a character talks and sounds, the images mostly stay on-model, and the memory situation needs reading before you pay.

Verdict: voice and images on one persona for $9.99, with a memory catch

Golove AI earns its 4.5 on one structural decision: voice replies and image credits sit in the $9.99 Premium plan. Of the two apps we ran it against, Candy puts voice on its $12.99 Premium and Joi on its $17.77 Pro, so Golove undercuts both if you want to hear the character as part of normal use. Two apps we reviewed separately match it at $9.99: Lovescape Premium has voice messages and about 50 images, and Muah Pro has voice messages and 60 images. The rest is solid without leading the category. The persona builder produces a character that talks and sounds different depending on what you set, 39 of 50 images (78 percent) in our image test stayed consistent with the configured character, and the model redirected on 7 of our 200 test prompts against 58 on Character.AI. Three things hold it at 4.5: memory that carries between sessions is a Premium+ feature at $24.99, the catalog is about 60 personas, and the published privacy documentation is thinner than what Candy or Joi put out.

What is Golove AI?

This Golove AI review covers 30 days on the free tier, Premium at $9.99 a month and Premium+ at $24.99. Golove AI is an 18+ companion app built around one idea: you pick or build a persona, and the conversation, the voice replies and the generated images all attach to it. Pictures of your character come from the same screen as the chat, and the voice follows the communication style you set in the builder.

The "unfiltered" label means something specific here: voice and image extensions of adult chat, with a model that does not steer you back to safer ground. In our 200-prompt refusal test it redirected on 7 prompts, against 58 on Character.AI. Joi on Pro refused nothing in its own explicit test with the adult toggle on, and Candy refuses rarely (the EVA review logged three breaks from it in 200 messages), so Golove is a step behind them there, though well clear of the filtered mainstream. For text alone, Candy's memory goes deeper. For voice and visuals tied to one persona at a mid-tier price, Golove was the most coherent option we tried this year.

On our desk the reference point for browser-based spicy chat is AIGFModel, which we scored 4.5 for staying in character through adult turns without a download. Golove asks for a mid-tier price in exchange for a character you can hear and see, and we spent a month checking whether that stack holds together.

What is in the app

🔥

Adult conversation without detours

The mature-tuned model handles adult prompts without redirecting. 7 refusals on our 200-prompt benchmark against 58 on Character.AI.

🎭

Persona builder plus catalog

About 60 catalog personas, organized by archetype, and a builder covering backstory, communication style, traits and visual descriptors. Custom personas held character 12 percent better than catalog picks over 50-message sessions.

🎙

Voice replies on Premium

Voice is in the $9.99 plan. Latency averaged 3.4 seconds at peak, and the voice reflected the tone we set: formal, playful and assertive personas were audibly different, in delivery as well as vocabulary.

🖼

Persona-locked images

Images tie to the active persona's visual configuration. In our image test 39 of 50 stayed consistent with the established character, and across the whole month 37 of 47 did.

🧠

Cross-session memory on Premium+

Memory that survives closing the tab unlocks at $24.99. Week-one details came back on their own in week four for 5 of 8 seeded references.

🌐

Browser access, nothing to install

Works in the browser on desktop and phone with full feature parity. Mobile replies on iOS Safari averaged 0.6 seconds slower than desktop.

How it works, tier by tier

You sign up with an email and password (no phone number or card was asked for during our test), pass the age gate, then pick from the catalog or open the builder. The builder asks for backstory, communication style, personality traits and visual descriptors. Our first custom persona took 4 minutes 20 seconds; later ones took under two. Skip the visual section and the image output turns generic later, so spend the extra 90 seconds on it.

Free is text only. We measured the daily ceiling at around 30 messages, the same cap Joi's free tier has and three times Candy's 10, which is enough to judge the writing. Memory resets when the session ends, and you get a static avatar instead of voice or images. The text engine is the same one paid users get, so if the free conversation does not impress you, Premium will not fix that.

Premium at $9.99 is where the product starts: voice replies on every persona, about 50 image credits a month, a faster queue (around 4 seconds per reply in our runs, stretching to 6 or 7 on Friday and Saturday evenings) and a higher message ceiling. Memory is still bound to the session at this tier, which caught us out on day 6 when a 35-message persona setup vanished between visits.

Premium+ at $24.99 adds the persistent memory, unlimited messages, about 150 image credits and queue priority. Replies averaged 2.6 seconds there, against 4.1 on Premium. The memory is the reason to pay the difference: on Premium+ the character recalled earlier details within the first 10 messages of a return visit.

Golove AI pricing

These prices came from Golove's pricing page during our May 2026 window. Promotional first-month deals ran for part of the test, and plan names and credit allocations change, so check the live page before subscribing. We could not find a published refund window at the time of testing.

Premium is the right tier for most people. Premium+ pays off if you need memory across sessions or generate enough images for the larger credit pool to work out cheaper per image, which it does once you are past the Premium allowance.

Who Golove AI is for

Use it if you want text, voice and images on one persona at a mid-tier price, you do not want to pay Joi's $17.77 Pro rate to get voice, you care that the pictures of your character look like the same character every time, or you mostly use these apps in a phone browser and want the full feature set there.

Skip it if you are under 18 (the age gate is enforced before account creation and there are no exceptions), you want a strictly SFW companion, you need memory across sessions without paying $24.99 (Candy's $12.99 Premium held 18 of 20 fact callbacks over ten days, and Joi's paid plans managed about 14 of 20), you need an API, chat export or any form of data portability, or you want a big catalog (CrushOn lists over 1,000 characters).

Safety, privacy and the age gate

Golove requires users to be 18 or older and checks it before account creation. Terms and privacy policy are linked from the site footer. The prohibited content list covers what you would expect: anything involving minors, depictions of non-consenting real people, and related categories. Those rules apply on every tier regardless of persona configuration, and in testing the platform refused prompts crossing those lines every time.

Data handling looks like a normal consumer web service, but the documentation is thin. We could not find a stated retention period for chat history. Account deletion is in settings and we tested it: the account became inaccessible within minutes, though we have no way to verify how long backend data lingers afterwards. Candy's policy, by comparison, keeps chats out of model training unless you opt in, and Lovescape, like Golove, names no retention period at all. Nothing we saw suggests Golove mishandles data, but the documentation gives you no way to check. Treat it as a public web service: no real names, no location details, and reread the policy now and then. If documented retention matters to you, email support before subscribing and treat the answer as the policy.

Three ways we used it

Roleplay with voice and a character you can see

This is what the app is built for. We built a custom persona with a backstory, visual traits and a communication style, then ran a 40-message session mixing text, voice replies and five generated images of the character in different settings. Assertive, playful and reserved configurations all sounded different. Joi's $9.99 Premium gives you limited image generation and no voice; Candy's $12.99 Premium has both, for three dollars a month more than Golove.

A free-tier quality check before paying

Thirty text-only messages a day is enough for 15 to 20 messages of casual chat, a tone shift and one moderate roleplay prompt. That gives an honest read on the writing. What it cannot show you is the voice and image stack, which is the part that sets Golove apart.

Generating a consistent set of character images

Build the persona with the full visual configurator, then spend credits on scenes of the character in different settings. Style, approximate appearance and framing matched the persona on 39 of our 50 images. That beat Joi's image generation for consistency in our side-by-side use, and stayed behind Candy, which held the same face across 50 straight images.

Where it earns its score, and where it loses points

What we liked

  • Voice replies included at $9.99, under Candy's $12.99 Premium and Joi's $17.77 Pro
  • The persona builder produces noticeably different behaviour between personas
  • Images stayed on-model for 39 of 50 in our image test and 37 of 47 over the month
  • 7 refusals in 200 prompts, so the unfiltered framing holds
  • The voice carries the persona's tone, so a reserved character sounds reserved
  • Full feature parity on iOS Safari and Android Chrome
  • Signup needs only an email and password

Where it stumbles

  • Memory between sessions costs $24.99, while Candy's $12.99 Premium already includes long-term memory
  • About 60 catalog personas, and the catalog grows slowly
  • Premium replies average 4.1 seconds, and stretch to 6 or 7 on weekend evenings
  • No API, no chat export, no data portability
  • Retention documentation thinner than Candy's or Joi's

If Golove AI is not the right fit

  • Want the deepest persona builder? Joi AI gives you 12 personality sliders and six chat styles you can switch mid-conversation, the most control we have had over a character. Voice messages need the $17.77 Pro plan and images run on coins. Our Joi AI review has the full scoring.
  • Want the best memory and images for $3 more a month? Candy AI held 18 of 20 fact callbacks across ten days, kept the same face across 50 images, and includes voice notes and calls on its $12.99 Premium. See the Candy AI review.
  • Want the same price with a wider cast? Lovescape also puts voice messages and about 50 images a month on a $9.99 Premium, with the most inclusive builder we have tested (eight ethnicities, four body types). Its privacy policy is the shortest in our sweep, so the same caution applies. See the Lovescape review.

Golove AI review notes from 30 days of testing

  • Hour 1. Free account, 18 calibration messages on a catalog persona labelled "sharp and direct". Replies averaged 5.1 seconds. The character held through all 18. Free is text only, so voice and images had to wait.
  • Day 1. Upgraded to Premium and built a custom persona with the full visual configurator. First voice reply arrived 3.6 seconds after sending and sounded distinct from the catalog persona, with the reserved tone we had set. Four images generated, all four consistent with the configured traits.
  • Day 7. Returned after a four-day gap. On Premium the character did not recall anything, since memory is session-bound at that tier. We upgraded to Premium+ to test persistent memory, and a fresh session there did carry over to the next visit.
  • Day 14. 60-message coherence run on Premium+ with deliberate topic jumps and tone shifts. Voice stayed in character for all 60, and 7 of 8 images in the second half matched the persona. Mild text drift appeared around message 48. Joi, for comparison, broke character twice across its 200-message run.
  • Day 30. Final three-session memory test on Premium+. The character recalled 5 of 8 details seeded in week one unprompted, and one more when prompted. 47 images over the month, 37 of them on-model. Voice held for the full month with no drift between text and voice modes.

One practical note from the month: test voice on a persona with an assertive or reserved style rather than a neutral one, because that is where the difference is most audible.

Golove AI FAQ

The questions readers ask us most about Golove AI.

Is Golove AI safe to use?

Golove enforces an 18+ age gate before account creation and bans illegal content categories, including anything involving minors or non-consenting real people, on every tier. The privacy policy and terms are linked from the footer, but the published documentation on data retention is thinner than Candy AI's or Joi's. Read the live policy before sharing anything identifying, treat it like any consumer web service, and contact support first if documented retention matters to you.

Is Golove AI free?

There is a working free tier with roughly 30 messages a day, session-only memory and text-only replies. Voice and image generation start on the $9.99 Premium plan. The free text quality is the same as the paid text quality, so it is a fair way to judge the writing before paying, though it will not show you the voice and image features the app is built around.

Does Golove AI include voice replies?

Yes. Voice replies come with the $9.99 Premium tier. Candy includes voice on its $12.99 Premium and Joi on its $17.77 Pro, so Golove undercuts both; Lovescape and Muah also bundle voice messages with images at $9.99. The voice reflects the communication style you set for the persona, whether formal, playful, assertive or reserved. We tested three configurations and could hear the difference.

How does Golove AI compare to Joi AI?

Joi wins on builder depth (12 personality sliders and six chat styles against Golove's backstory, style and trait fields) and on memory, with about 14 of 20 fact callbacks in our recall test. Golove wins on setup time (our first persona took 4 minutes 20 seconds against about 8 minutes on Joi), on voice price ($9.99 against Joi's $17.77 Pro) and on not running a coin economy for images. Both free tiers stop at about 30 messages a day. Pick Joi for a character you define in detail. Pick Golove for voice and images on one persona without a Pro bill.

Does Golove AI remember conversations?

It depends on the tier. Free and Premium reset when you close the tab. Premium+ at $24.99 adds memory that carries between sessions, and over 30 days the character recalled 5 of 8 seeded week-one details without prompting. Candy AI did better on its $12.99 Premium, with 18 of 20 fact callbacks held over ten days, so if long memory is the main thing you want, Candy gets you there for less.

What is the difference between Premium and Premium+?

Premium at $9.99 unlocks voice replies, about 50 image credits a month, a faster queue and a higher message ceiling. Premium+ at $24.99 adds memory across sessions, unlimited messages, about 150 credits and queue priority. Premium is the right tier for most people. Premium+ makes sense if you need persistent memory or generate enough images for the bigger credit pool to pay for itself.

Can I use Golove AI on mobile?

Yes. It is browser-first and works without an app on iOS and Android. Voice replies, image generation and the persona builder all worked on mobile in our testing. Replies averaged 0.6 seconds slower than on desktop, and the layout adapts without the cramped interface problems we have seen elsewhere.

Voice and images on one persona, for $9.99

Golove AI is the mid-tier pick for adults who want to hear and see their character for $9.99 a month. Start on the free tier to judge the writing, then move to Premium for the voice and image stack.
