Joi AI documents nearly as many controls as OurDream, and it is the one of the two you can open on a free account. Four screens take about eight minutes: appearance (five body presets, bust and hip dials, eight ethnicities, hair, eyes, skin tone and an "intimate hair" toggle that changes what she describes in NSFW chat), 12 personality sliders from 0 to 100, about 40 occupations with a backstory, and six chat styles you can switch mid-conversation. 3. Candy AI: free-text backstory and the memory to keep it
Candy AI's builder took us nine minutes: name, age, body type, hair and eyes, a free-text description, kinks, a two-paragraph backstory and 12 personality sliders that changed her replies within three messages. The review lists fewer body controls than Joi or OurDream, but the description and backstory are written in your own words, which is where a trans identity would go, and Candy's memory is the strongest we measured: 18 of 20 planted facts recalled across ten days. 4. Golove AI: a text-only builder on the free account
Golove AI's builder is all fields you write yourself: backstory, communication style and personality traits, plus visual descriptors once you pay. There are no sliders, so how she looks and who she is depend on what you type. The free account (email and password, no card) includes the text-only builder, about 30 messages a day and session-only memory. Premium at $9.99 adds the visual traits, about 50 image credits a month and voice replies that follow the style you set; in our image test 39 of 50 pictures stayed on model. 5. Lovescape: the widest body range, little on persona
Lovescape ships the broadest look controls we have reviewed: eight ethnicity buckets with 12 skin tones inside each, four body types including plus-size, age presets from early 20s to late 40s, 14 style aesthetics that change the images, and five voice tones. The review does not document personality sliders or a backstory field, which is why it sits last for this use. The builder, explicit chat and about 50 images a month (41 of 47 held the character) are on Premium at $9.99; the free tier is about 30 SFW messages a day with no builder. Two reviewed apps sit outside this comparison. AIGFModel (4.5) lets you set a companion's personality, appearance, desires, interests and conversation style on its free tier, but the review does not list the individual controls. Nectar AI (4.2) documents no builder controls worth comparing, though its memory inspector lets you edit or delete any stored fact, which helps if a model gets her details wrong. Setting her up yourself

Candy and Golove document free-text description and backstory fields; on Joi and OurDream the reviews describe backstory screens without saying whether they take free text, so check before you build. Then use the body controls for presentation. Joi's experience suggests the effort carries over, since details named in its builder surfaced in chat without prompting; we have not checked whether the same holds for a trans identity.
Most adult models lean toward one default character, so the risk over a long chat is drift: the details you wrote fade and the writing slides back toward that default. Memory is the defence. Candy recalled 18 of 20 planted facts across ten days, Joi about 14 of 20 before fading in week two, and Golove keeps memory between sessions only on Premium+. Nectar's inspector lets you correct a stored fact by hand.
- Repeat the key points of her identity in your first message so the model has them from the start.
- After 20 or 30 messages, ask something that depends on her backstory and see whether the answer still fits.

How we compared them
Every control listed above comes from the builder section of that app's full review on this site. We did not run these apps again with a trans character, and the reviews were not written with one in mind, so the comparison tells you what you can set and not how well a model keeps it. Apps whose reviews document both body and persona controls rank above one documented on body alone, and within that group a longer list of documented controls ranks higher. Free-text fields matter most in practice, because they are the only place you can state her identity, so the table shows which apps have them. Prices and plan limits are from the same reviews.
What is free and what is paid
Two of the five let you build on a free account: Joi with one slot and Golove with its text-only builder. Candy, OurDream and Lovescape keep their builders on paid plans, so their free tiers cannot show you your own character at all. Adult chat starts at $9.99 on Joi Premium (with replies capped at about 115 characters until $17.77 Pro), $9.99 on OurDream and Lovescape and $12.99 on Candy; Golove calls itself unfiltered, and its review does not say which tier that starts on. Privacy matters because these chats are intimate. Candy encrypts in transit and at rest and keeps chats out of training unless you opt in. Joi comes close and lets you try its builder on a free slot, with the caveat that its full builder and uncapped adult chat sit on Pro at $17.77. Candy pairs a free-text backstory with the best memory we measured. Golove suits people who would rather describe her in words than set sliders.
